Final Fantasy XIII-2 : Preview

Image
Sequels are tricky affairs and  Square Enix  is no stranger to them now; any seasoned fan still can recall the ill-fated Final Fantasy X-2  or the multiple  Kingdom Hearts  spin-offs. Despite  Final Fantasy XIII ’s strong launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2010, anticipation  for its successor have been less than underwhelming. There may be a number of reasons why  Final Fantasy XIII  may have lost a strong following after its release; many fans often complain about the game’s stubborn linearity, lack of “meaty” gameplay, unlikable cast, and nonsensical storyline. Despite this,  Final Fantasy XIII-2  may be the true redemption the series has called for, even if it’s not necessarily the one fans are clamoring about. Final Fantasy XIII-2  is a direct sequel to  Final Fantasy XIII , taking place three years after the events of the first game. Lightning, the heroine and former protagonist from the previous game, has disappeared entirely and is presumed to be d

Alienware announce X51 gaming PC in console-size case

Image
Alienware has a long history of packaging high end components into blisteringly fast computers that let you play games with the settings turned to 11. But until now you’ve only really had two choices: an Alienware laptop or a large desktop case. Today, a third option has been revealed, and it could fight for space under your TV next to your consoles. The Alienware X51 is a desktop PC, but in a form factor that rivals the size of the  PS3  or  Xbox 360 . It has been designed to offer high-end gaming, but in a much smaller footprint than a typical gaming rig. As you can see in the image below, the case measures just 95 x 343 x 318mm. For comparison, that makes it slightly larger than the original PS3. Packing a gaming rig inside a small case surprisingly doesn’t mean you have to make many compromises. The X51 remains upgradeable with the hard drive, graphics card, and memory accessible. The components on offer also mean the X51 won’t struggle with any existing PC games, even in

emPower eyeglasses use accelerometer and LCD layer for electronic focusing

Image
By:   Matthew Humphries In you wear eyeglasses then you know they can’t be perfect in all situations. You have a prescription that solves a problem such as long or short sightedness, but you still find yourself looking over the top of the glasses or having trouble focusing through them for certain viewing tasks. PixelOptics has turned to technology in order to solve that problem, and claim to have produced some rather intelligent eyewear that automatically adjusts the prescription based on what you are trying to look at. The new glasses are called emPower. They use a combination of a micro-accelerometer, chip, and small rechargeable battery embedded into the frame of the glasses. That setup controls an LCD layer which covers both lenses. The accelerometer is used to tell when the wearer tilts their head forwards or backwards, and if in automatic mode, will adjust the lens output to suit. Tilting the head forwards suggests trying to read something so the lower reading

Rosh Online Review

Image
Warning: players may experience deja vu. Ignited Games recently launched Rosh Online, which is an updated version of Karos Online. The game is fundamentally the same as before, with some quality-of-life improvements as well as a few new options to set it apart. The game still looks and feels like Shaiya and Last Chaos, providing high quality graphics and detailed environments. Character Creation — Still Boring Karos Online offered six classes: Mystic, Bowmistress, Blader, Paladin, Rogue and Sorceress. Rosh Online adds a new class to the mix: Gunner. Character creation options are the same, limited choices as before, giving players only three face options, four hair style options, and eight hair color choices. Classes are gender-locked, meaning you will only ever see female mystics, bowmistresses, paladins, and sorceresses, or male bladers, rogues, and gunners. Each class has their choice between two specializations. The level requirement for this job change has been r

Alliance of Valiant Arms

Image
Alliance of Valiant Arms Overview It seems that ijji is really trying hard to cash in on the MMOFPS craze as Alliance of Valiant Arms (AVA for short), is the third MMOFPS published by ijji. Even though there are already a boat-load of good MMOFPS games on the market, more and more game publishers are putting out their own shooting games. This wouldn’t be a bad thing if these games weren’t all remarkably similar. To be fair, though, even though AVA doesn’t exactly break away from the cookie-cutter tactical MMOFPS mold, it is an extremely polished and graphically impressive game that’s well worth playing. Great Fluid Gameplay Like most modern MMOFPS games, Alliance of Valiant arms looks and plays smoothly. After creating a character players will be asked if they wish to complete the game’s tutorial. Honestly though, anyone who’s ever played an MMOFPS game before won’t need this tutorial, but I recommend going through it anyway – it only takes five minutes and it’s
