Toyota GT 86 – New Toyota Sports Car Unveiled for Europe

The GT 86 will be launched in Japan and Europe (named GT 86 in Europe in tribute to Toyota’s GT car heritage). The Scion FR-S concept may become the U.S. version of the GT 86.
Finally, it has become the reality, no more anticipation. It is official, the Toyota FT-86 Concept is the GT 86, which is the new production Toyota Sports Car and will be on sale in the U.K in June 2012.
The FT-86 concept was first unveiled back in 2009 at the Tokyo Motor Show and was followed by the FT-86 II Concept in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. This year the FT-86 II concept will be followed by the GT 86, which will be globally debuted as the new Toyota sports car at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The Toyota GT 86 is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine from Subaru, which generates 197 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb-ft. of torque at 6,600 rpm.
Measuring 166.9 inch long, 50.6 inch high and 101.2 inch wide, the GT 86 is the most compact four-seater sports cars on the market.
Equipped with ventilated disc brakes,the Toyota GT 86 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with the suspension system featuring MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear.
